Bio: Chris lived in Kyoto from 1992 to 2016. He now splits his time between Kyoto and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Chris was the lead author of Lonely Planet Japan and Kyoto books from 1995 until 2015. In addition to JTC, Chris operates Chris Rowthorn Tours, which offers intimate private tours of Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima/Miyajima, Takayama and Kanazawa. Chris also operates InsideKyoto.com, TrulyTokyo.com, and InsideOsaka.com.
